The Newseum Project

Brochure, Magazine, and Logo Design for Print using Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop

The Newseum was one of my favorite museums to visit in Washington, DC. While visiting in the summer of 2017, I was inspired to create promotional material for their Louder Than Words: Rock, Power, Politics exhibit as well as their daily newspapers on display on the outside of the building.

I first focused on their Louder Than Words exhibit. I was really inspired by one of the displays that featured a brief timeline of censorship in music. I was surprised to learn that censorship is still an issue today. I truly believe that music is powerful and has the ability to bring people together in various ways and should not be censored. So with that, I created a brochure, using a gate-fold format, double sided, that highlights just a fraction of censorship throughout history.

The second part to this project focused on creating a quarterly magazine publication titled, Newsflash. The mission of the magazine was to educate the public on the evolution of communication, give insight into behind the scenes at the Newseum, highlight interviews with politicians, journalists, and museum curators, and give a 3 month recap of the news around the world.

Newsflash would be the perfect opportunity for subscribers to feel like they are at the Newseum, wherever they are!
